I love photographing the full moon, but I have not been as successful as I hoped to be. I’ve been blaming my lens, which is a older mo del Canon 75 – 300 telephoto, but now I think I may have been using a too slow shuttler speed. I took the attached picture during the November Hunter’s Moon. It’s actually a composite of two images, one exposed for the clouds, and one exposed for the moon. The lens-flair is from the 1st image, when the moon itself was completely blown out.

I prefer to shoot the moon when the sky still has some blue in it, as the image that I’m attaching. Just so you know, the toothpick looking things to the right and left of this moon are wind turbines — this was March’s super moon. I would like some tips to get an image that includes more than the moon when the sky is black. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/323b0cb01d4555dae2a8829b1f497c2612528db3582cc76caf9907a5c7666611.jpg
