It’s crucial for photographers to really grasp how ISO amplification impacts image quality during the conversion process. I love how you stress the importance of staying updated with new tech in our field. Your explanation of exposure factors is so clear; it really helps us see how ISO fits into the bigger picture. Thanks for breaking down complex ideas in such an approachable way.

But if you REALLY want to understand ISO, watch this video (and no, you don’t need to be a Sony owner)…

I’m afraid that yours took the prize, it’s wrong in almost every detail. ISO does not affect the sensitivity of your camera, neither how ‘sensitive your camera is to light’. It is not an exposure variable and not part of exposure. These things are the very basics of photography, but you get them wrong here. Before you call yourself ‘Digital Photography School’ you should ensure that you are teaching stuff that is correct. I see from the comments below that others have told you similar things, but you haven’t edited the article.

I understand that it is the simplest way to explain what altering the ISO-value does in the exposure-triangle, but still: that is misinformation.
When I explain to novices how ISO works, I compare it to the volume knob of an audio-amplifier: it does not alter the power, but can decrease and increase the power that comes out of the speakers.
By increasing the volume, we also increase the noise (although in modern audio systems this is negligible). Most people understand immediately how that also increases the noise and the proof of my explanation is that they can also see that with their own eyes.

That’s why I refer to them as raw files, not RAW files.

This is fundamentally incorrect. The sensor hardware has only one sensitivity and can not be changed without changing to another sensor. The ISO setting in digital cameras adjusts how much analog amplification is applied to the signal coming off the sensor before that signal is converted to digital information.
