This article is about using layers in computer software after the photo is taken in order to create an image with more dynamic range from bright to dark than the camera can capture on its own. It helps overcome the limitations of camera sensors when it comes to capturing scenes with really bright and really dark areas. Using layers in software also allows for selective adjustments of color, brightness, or other attributes that would not otherwise be easily achievable. Layers in composition is something different from what I’m discussing here, but you’re right in that layers in composition is something that everyone should do as part of the picture-taking process.

Yours was the one that made my light bulb finally come on. Ha! Thank you SO so much!

Maria, I have Paint Shop Pro, and I also use Windows 10. It is wonderful and does so much more than I ever thought a photo editor could do! I love it. Smiles ~
